The Challenge:
Oyster Dome
Besides having a cool name, the hike is a 6.5 mile out and back. Dogs are allowed on leashes.Head north, up Chuckanut Drive, enjoy view and carefully park on the side of the road. The trail takes off directly from the side of the road with a respectably steep incline that reduces you to a quick sweat. A great hike, buried amongst monster trees carried by switchbacks. The trail itself is easy to follow and breaks off a few times towards other destinations. At the point that fatigue enters, the trail reveals itself as one steep S.O.B. This is the point where it is easy to ask yourself, “Is it worth it?” The answer is, without a doubt, yes.
The Reward:
A small, quaint, mellow bar with specialty cocktails and a few good beers on tap. Can’t say this place is for everyone as it’s even been hit and miss for us. However, after hiking Oyster Dome we would have taken a paper bag and a domestic. Needless to say the beer was liquid gold. #EarntheBeer.
The view at the top of Oyster Dome is truly breathtaking. Definitely recommend this hike!
